Who we are
We are an elevated boho clothing brand with an ethereal twist. We love making “out of the ordinary”, curated & elevated pieces that stand out with mainly eco friendly textiles, made of recycled PET bottles, and a variety of original prints designed by us.
Traveling around the world is a key inspiration to us. Collecting beautiful treasures from different cultures is essential and the heart of our garments. We’ve always been curious about details, obsessive about the perfect fit and flattering lines.
Sustainability
Our main goal is to keep it tidy regarding the environment. We’re the type of people who recycle everyday as a way of life and that’s why we have many sustainable practices inside Etherea since we began in 2012.
We are dog people so ever since we began, we have been saving our scraps and using them as filling for “dog beds” that we donate to doggy foundations and shelters in our community. Recently, we have also been donating scraps to a group of women that create scrap-dolls to maintain cultural traditions.
All these efforts are in favor of collaborating with the environment and therefore becoming an ethically conscious, low impact, minimum waste brand. That's just the kind of people we are.
Founding Story
Gabriela Acosta-Rubio
Founder + CEO
✦ Gabriela Acosta-Rubio has been passionate about clothes since she can remember. A born perfectionist, it was only natural she gravitated towards fashion. She graduated from Liberal Arts, and continued on to pursue her love of fashion. Having faced adversity throughout her life, it only served as motivation to keep focused on her dream.
✦ Having grown in her mother’s friends’ ateliers as a child, autodidact and more than 15 years in constant closeness to sewing and handmade tailoring, she created Etherea from scratch with a solid vision.
✦ Almost 10 years later, “I still design for myself and what’s missing in my closet”.
“I’ve always been curious about details in clothes. I get excited to discover something new every time I wear them and that is what I do with our clothes. I’m obsessive about the perfect fit and flattering lines. I don’t like to be dressed like everybody else”.
✦ Her mission has always been to dress women who want to look different and to offer styles and prints with meaning that also make you feel special. Etherea has been and still is a reference in her market, making small quantities of each to respect the magic of each garment and the women who own them.
